ACWA Power to develop desalination project in Saudi Arabia
Aurora acquires R & M Engineering
ACWA Power has signed water purchase agreements for the 600,000 cubic metre per day Rabigh 4 Independent Water Plant ( IWP ) in Saudi Arabia . The Saudi Water Partnership Company ( SWPC ), a government offtaker , will be the sole buyer of services for the project , which is located on the Red Sea coast in Saudi Arabia . Valued at around EUR 617M , the reverse osmosis plant will service the Makkah and Madinah regions , which typically see a spike in demand during the Ramadan and the annual Hajj season . ACWA Power currently operates Rabigh 3 IWP in the area with the same capacity as Rabigh 4 . Last year , Rabigh 3 was recognised as the World ’ s Largest Reverse Osmosis Desalination plant by the Guinness World Records™ . With Rabigh 4 IWP , ACWA Power will double its desalination capacity in Rabigh Area . Financial close for the project is expected during the third quarter of 2023 .
Aurora Energy Services Limited has acquired Huntly-based offshore services and fabrication company R & M Engineering . All jobs at IATS and R & M Engineering have been secured and in the next 12 months , Aurora expects to increase its current headcount of around 80 to 200 as it rolls out a programme of strategic acquisitions and invests more capital in organic growth . Aurora ’ s business plan is to create a EUR 115M turnover international energy services provider over the next five years by continuing to provide services to oil and gas , and in parallel driving forward with the energy transition by targeting the wind , solar , hydrogen , carbon capture & storage , pumped hydro and waste to energy sectors .
Alleima acquires Söderfors Steel
Quality welding torches from Fronius
Fronius packs more than seventy years of welding know-how and extremely strict quality requirements into developing and manufacturing welding torches in-house . The company ’ s response to escalating demand was to double production capacities at the Pettenbach production site in Austria . The portfolio includes a variety of MIG , TIG , and plasma welding torches for manual , stationary , and robot-assisted welding applications . The quality welding torches and high-end welding systems are developed by Fronius experts at the same location , and are tailored to one another , right from the start . This allows the respective advantages and technological innovations to be merged into a perfect system , and maximises the potential . So it is also only logical that in popular welding packages such as Low Spatter Control ( LSC ) or Pulse Multi Control ( PMC ), the welding process is at its most stable with original Fronius welding torches .
Alleima has signed an agreement to acquire Söderfors Steel Operations AB ( Söderfors Steel ). The acquisition will add capabilities in hot rolling of small diameter bars and profiles to expand the offering of advanced materials for the Medical and Aerospace segments . The acquisition will provide Alleima with the capabilities to manufacture bars with a diameter less than 80 millimeters in high-performance materials as nickel base alloys and remelted stainless steel . By adding these capabilities , Alleima will be able to manufacture small diameter bars in-house , an important ability for the positioning and growth in medical as well as aerospace applications . The production facility and head office of Söderfors Steel is located in Söderfors , Sweden , with approximately 50 employees . The transaction is expected to close during H1 2023 .
