The College, is one of 12 colleges for the region to win money to encourage participation in sport. A full time Sports Development Officer or 'Sports Maker' will be employed, jointly funded by the College and Sport England, with a remit to increase students’ sports participation and physical activity right across College. Working with National Governing Bodies of Sport, the role will help improve links between young people and local community sports clubs over a minimum of five years.

The College’s new Student Union President and Student Governor Layla Adaci, was featured in the Times Educational Supplement and FE Week.

The College has been nominated for two Awards, the 1st4sport Qualifications and Sports Coach UK Beacon Award for Sport in the Curriculum and the LSIS Award for Efficiency through Effective Use of Technology in FE and Skills. Beacon Award Assessors visited during September and October and winners are to be announced at the AoC’s annual conference in November.

The new Deputy Vice Chancellor of Plymouth University, David Coslett, toured the College’s campus on Friday 7th September, prior to being the University’s keynote speaker at the College's HE Awards on the 13th September.

The Torbay Development Agency met with the Principal and Vice Principal Corporate Services to discuss European Funding, Coastal Communities, Funds, Innovation Centres

SWEC/DSS/UTC, Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP) and the Mayor’s Forum, where the College was invited to present.

Ofsted visited the campus on Wednesday 17th & Thursday 18th October for a Local accountability and autonomy in FE survey, which involved stakeholders from local secondary schools, Devon, Torbay & Plymouth Strategic Advisory Group, Torbay, South Hams and Teignbridge District Councils as well as a number of other external community partners.

Governors and the Principal from Petroc visited the College campus on Wednesday 24th October to help inform their ten year Estates Strategy Plan.
