Indomitus
Shakespeare said, “If music is the
food of love, play on.”
This past Valentine’s Day, as
usual, Grey College showcased its
romantic side in the most authentic
way possible, but what can be more
authentic and romantic than mak-
ing the girls from our sister schools
weak at the knees with angel-like
voices and charming smiles?
Each year, the Indomitus vocal
ensemble has a mission to fill the
air as well as the girls’ hearts with
love and this year was no different.
On the 13th of February, Indomitus
visited Eunice, Oranje and Sentraal
to perform their love songs for the
girls.
The boys performed well-
known songs such as ‘Shape Of
You’ by Ed Sheeran, ‘Be My For-
ever’ by Cristina Perry and ‘Home’
by Philip Philips. Mr. Davel and his
boys were very well prepared and
did well considering the fact that it
was only their first performance of
the year.
If music is indeed the food of
love, it is safe to say that Indomitus
will continue to play on and most
importantly, will continue to spread
the love, not only on Valentine’s
Day, but through the years to come.

jaar van hoogtepunte
Internasionale mededinging verseker diepte
Die koor handhaaf ‘n hoë standaard, net soos by die 2017 Musiekfees.
‘n Simfonie van stemme! Sang soos
nog nooit vantevore gehoor is nie.
Klank wat kombineer om ‘n melodie
te vorm wat so mooi is op die oor.
Grey-manne wat saam staan en net
een doel het - Sing!
Die koor-manne het reeds die
geleentheid gehad om die koor-
kamp die eerste naweek in Februarie
by te woon, waar daar geoefen is
vir die komende optredes. Die koor
bestaan uit ‘n span van begaafde
seuns en wanneer die geleentheid
hom voordoen, wys die koor male
sonder tal wat werklik in hulle
steek.
Mnr Hattingh Davel, afrigter
van die koor, sê: “Ons is hierdie jaar
reeds vroeg aan die gang. Oefeninge
begin sover moontlik stiptelik en
daar word hard gewerk met baie
ure wat in beslag geneem word.”
Mnr Davel en mnr Dana Cilliers is
elke aand op hulle pos.
Die 10de Wêreld-koorspele
word tussen die 4de en 14de Julie
in Pretoria aangebied. Hierdie
geleentheid vind elke tweede jaar, of
elke gelyke jaar, op ‘n verskillende
kontinent plaas. Dit sal die eerste
keer wees wat die koor aan ‘n
kompetisie met soveel prestige
deelneem. Met die vorige weergawe,
wat in Rusland plaasgevind en
groot kompetisie gelok het, was die
gehalte puik.

Wêreld-koorspele. Slegs ‘n klein
aantal seunskore het die voorreg
om aan so ‘n besondere geleentheid
deel te neem. Koor-repetisies sal
voortgaan in die eerste week van
die Julie-vakansie voordat die koor
na die koorspele vertrek.
Daar word uitgesien na die
optrede by die Grey Musiekfees en
die interskole, wat altyd besondere
hoogtepunte in Grey se kultuur-jaar
is.

Jamaicans” like DJ Kool Herc
who introduced the rhythms
from salsa music, as well as
Afro conga and bongo drums,
as well as many who emulated

Willie Colón.
