A Craft module was created for the 2018 -2019 timetable for Transition Year Students. The module ran from September to December and again January to May and was facilitated by Ms. Coffey who is a talented craft person.

The first group prepared for the annual Christmas Craft Fair; making Santa plates, Christmas ornaments, handmade cards and lots of edibles. It was an ideal opportunity for students, parents, teachers and the wider community to get some Christmas Shopping done!

The Second group of students made wax crayon melt canvas and they also started cross stitch, they came up with their own designs, created a pattern and framed their project.

The craft module allows students to show off their talents and to develop new ones. The Craft module makes time for students to open their creative minds. There is something for everyone!

Although craft class can be busy with many small projects underway with different students it is also a calming class and helps promote wellbeing. It was enjoyed by all students and allowed students to view themselves as creative individuals.

NEW MODULES IN TRANSITION YEAR

DRIVER EDUCATION

Mr. Taylor Jenkins realised early on that students did not want a diet of hi-viz armbands and zebra crossing protocols in their Driver Education class. They needed a more ‘grown up’ module. Mr. Taylor Jenkins listened to the students and liaised with the Road Safety Authority (RSA). The goal of the SoW programme was to develop a more mature understanding in student's around road safety. It is hoped that this will impact on their competencies when they start learning to drive.

This year. Mr. Taylor Jenkins, our Maths teacher liaised with the RSA and developed a road safety module (SoW) for students here in St. Paul's from the perspective of both a pedestrian and future driver.
