Continued Professional and Personal Development

Orla Curran, newly appointed Wellbeing Coordinator here at St. Paul's believes Wellbeing is the presence of positivity."

Teachers Wellbeing is essential she says "The role of the teacher has changed. This role goes far beyond teaching and learning in the classroom. Yes we are class teachers but we also find ourselves taking on additional roles as tutor, counsellor, advocate and confident to the young people in our care." She explained "Wellbeing should be the holistic development of the whole person. This includes professional and personal development. Our focus in the past was Continued Professional Development and has contributed positively to our work as teachers.

This term she concentrated on teacher wellbeing. Orla organised a monthly event which catered for the whole school community. It has included Potluck lunches, early morning walks before school, a community read for Autism Awareness Month, Cooking with our international students.

Orla plans to continue her work next year with activities for students, teachers and staff which will support the presence of continued positivity here in St. Pauls.
