INSPIRES ONLINE: The free e-newsletter of the Scottish Episcopal Church Glen 17 The Scottish Episcopal Church Youth Week takes place each year when young people from across Scotland gather together for a week of fellowship, worship, activities, sports, and evening events. It’s a fun-filled holiday week with a difference – offering plenty of time to relax, make good friends, and generally have a great week! The Youth Weeks are open to anyone in secondary education up to, and including, July 2017; also, those under 18 years old who have left full-time education. You must be sponsored by your local Scottish Episcopal Church congregation. The Youth Week takes place at Glenalmond College in Perthshire and the date this year is 23-29 July. The theme this year is ‘Fantastical Beasts – Fearfully and wonderfully made’ Europe Where Now? There has been a great deal of uncertainty about our place in Europe since the Brexit vote in June 2016 and this has become more apparent in recent days, now that official notice has been given under Article 50. Inequalities in our society are becoming more apparent, and the Rt Hon Lord Wallace of Tankerness Jim Wallace, former deputy First Minister of Scotland, challenged churches gathered at a recent conference to engage with communities that are ‘left behind.’ An important role for the churches now is to listen to the voices from the margins, and ensure that public discourse is inclusive and full of integrity.
