From the Scottish Episcopal Institute (Held over due to lack of space)
Dear Mrs Anderson,
Thank you so much for the generous donation of £53.75, being the
deputising fee for the Revd Sally Gorton’s services. Please pass on my
thanks to the congregation for this very kind and thoughtful gesture; it is
deeply appreciated.
I have written to Sally to thank her too. Any monies garnered in this way go
towards supporting our fulltime (incumbent status) students who opt to study
for an M.Div degree at New College along with their formational studies here
in the SEI, and their future curacies.
Of the 29 students in the Institute (2 of whom are from the Diocese of
Glasgow and Galloway), we have 3 women studying this way right now and
a fourth (a man) is to join them next year.
In this way, you are not only supporting them but also helping to build the
future leadership of the Scottish Episcopal Church.
So, this comes with SEI’s warmest thanks to you. It was lovely to be at a
gathering in St Oswald’s last autumn and to see the life in the place. I was
especially taken by the art work displayed in the hall.
In the love of God, Kind regards
Anne Tomlinson
From Glasgow City Mission:
(Held over due to lack of space)
Dear Sheila,
Thank you to all at St Oswald’s Episcopal Church for your kind donation of
Christmas gifts and for reaching out to those who are homeless and in need.
Your generosity will be distributed to men and women who have so little.
Thank you. This will help people such as Alan who comes to our cookery
classes and to our Mission Lunch Club for older men.
Alan says, “I started coming about 3 months ago, for a multitude of reasons,
but the main one was loneliness. I enjoy the company here, I know I can
speak to the staff and get direction for my life. At the cookery class, I’m
learning new skills and building my confidence back up. I’ve found a friend in
Joe Campbell (Project Worker). He prays with me and we do Bible Study
together. He has a good heart.”
“The mission is really important – not just for me – for anyone struggling with
any of life’s difficulties. There are people here to support you.”
