Vestry meetings There will be Vestry meetings on the 5th July (mine and Ashley’s 37th wedding anniversary) and the 9th August. I shall be at New Wine in England for the first week in August and so the vestry meeting will happen in the second week. Isabel Dowlan will cover Sunday the 31st for me. Looking ahead for the vestry AGM. There will be vacancies including secretary and children and vulnerable adult co-ordinator. We must ensure that these positions are filled, so please pray daily for good people to take on these good roles. There is a tendency in the year after a priest arrives for the vestry committee to breathe a sigh of relief and let go of the reigns. If that happens St Oswald’s church will close!!!! It won’t matter that we have good visions and good mission projects if the vestry is not quorate we cannot legally keep going. This is so very important, once again I urge you all to PRAY DAILY. Harvest Advent and Christmas This year is going by very quickly and I need a few people to help me to plan the Harvest, advent and Christmas services. I mean it when I say that if no one wants to help there will be a very limited set of services during this time. I really do hope that someone in the St Oswald family will delight in chatting over the possibilities with me, possibly over a lovely meal somewhere. (Yes it is bribery!) First year gone My first year as Priest In Charge at St Oswald’s has passed. None of you have asked for my resignation and I have not wanted to leave, so all in all a fine time has been had. I look forward to hearing what God has to say about the next year, what He wants us all to do, and how He wants me to lead His flock forward. Since no one knows the future, who can tell someone else what is to come? Ecclesiastes 8:7 Lesley-ann + X X StOM Page 15
