The Episcopal Church in Glasgow
The title might not suggest an article that is particularly innovative , but bear with me .
This is Glasgow , Kentucky where – to quote their website - “ Saint Andrew ’ s Episcopal Church is a small , active community offering a liturgical church service and numerous activities and opportunities for anyone seeking a fellowship of believers . The members of Saint Andrew ’ s come from a wide variety of backgrounds . Our doors are open to seekers , doubters , non- Episcopalians , and non-Christians . If you are looking for a church home , we would sincerely enjoy having you join us at Saint Andrew ’ s .”
The aptly named St Andrew ’ s is about to move to a new home and the architect ’ s drawings and visualisations suggest a stimulating place of worship for the local congregation . As a result of a generous gift facilitated by the Diocese , Saint Andrew ' s was able to purchase , free of debt , an extraordinary 21.44 acre tract of land in a developing part of Northern Glasgow . ( No , not Springburn ).
“ This pastoral landscape with beautiful vistas was chosen in the prayerful hope of creating a unique campus for the worship and mission of Saint Andrew ' s , a place where we may focus and expand our beacon of grace and inclusiveness .”
Our own Glasgow translates from the Gaelic as The Dear Green Place but it looks like one of our namesakes Stateside ( for there are twenty-one other Glasgow ’ s in the USA ) could challenge us for that title .
