50th Anniversary - Buildings As we come to celebrate on 17 th December, let me bring some recollections. There were two contracts for the buildings and it happened that the halls and offices were completed first and handed over to our use while some work was still to be done in the church building. On Sunday, 5 th November, 1967 we started evening services in the main hall and they were in co-operation with Holy Cross. One Sunday Rev Colin Rush would lead Evening Prayer and I would preach, and the next week I would lead and Colin would preach. This went on until the end of Decem- ber. Our first service in the newly opened and dedicated church was Sunday, 17 th December at 9 am when we sang “O Lord of Heaven and Earth”, “Away in a Manger”, “The first Nowell”, and “Christian, work for Jesus”. The lesson was Matthew 11:2f. and the preacher was The Rev Norman Monsen, Super- intendent of Home Mission, NSW Presbyterian Church. The evening ser- vice was Nine Lessons and Carols for Christmas with the combined choirs of Holy Cross and St Margaret’s. My notes of those days records a new elder inducted on 3 rd December, 1967 - John Dodds. - Don Erickson A Thankyou The Calvert family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all at St Margaret’s for all the care and support at the loss of Brenda. It was of great comfort to know so many people cared. Thanks also for the nice afternoon tea provided by the ladies and the beautiful flowers, cards and phone calls. We felt so blessed. God bless you all. Audrey St Margaret’s News 10 December 2017
