The Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton , Alberta , built in the 1920 ' s by the Great Northern Railway to offer their customers a respite " from prohibition in the USA . The Prince ( who was touring Canada at the time ) was invited to the opening of his name-sake hotel , but declined .
