LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
FA L L 2 0 1 8
St. Johns Members,
As we move into our Fall transitional
period, we continue to push for quality
course conditions in the month of
November. Renovations on the practice
facilities and bunkers are coming to an
end and as the process wraps up, we will
want to ensure the correct agronomic
practices are taking place to produce a
great result.
Our Fall fertilizer application was
completed in October, this will ensure
plant health and aesthetics for the coming
months, through less than ideal growing
conditions. Also, our first pre-emergent
application has been applied that will help
control weed growth during winter. A
second application will be completed by
year’s end as well.
Lastly, as the growing season comes to
an end, much of our emphasis will be
directed towards the finer details of the
golf course. One focus for my team will be
to improve drainage in many of our wet
areas on holes 5, 7, 12, 16, and 18. We hope
to continue to eliminate standing water
that gathers on these holes and improve
water flow which will lessen our need to
restrict cart traffic on these holes.
Enjoy your November!
