3. Prepare during the semester. Students think that lecturers ask for them to attend tutorials and lectures prepared so as to add to the already existing stress in their lives. Not so at all. We realise that a student understands more in lectures if he / she reads before coming to class. Also, the student will be better able to ask important questions when he / she does not follow a point. If you do not do this, you will find yourself, reading topics and cases for the first time at the end of the semester when you are preparing for examinations, and you will have no one to assist in clarifying the points. Early preparation helps in examination preparation.
4. Practise writing. Submitting written work to lecturers will help students( i) get in the habit of answering questions;( ii) be aware of how much they can reasonably write in an examination for a question;( iii) understand what the lecturers are asking for;( iv) remove the novelty of doing an examination. There is no down-side to practising writing during the semester.

5. Study groups. This is essential as the Law

School requires students to work in groups for their two-year program. These groups are assigned and not chosen. Therefore it is essential for law students to be able to work in groups. I always suggest that students find four or five similarly dedicated students and do past paper questions together. Let everyone do the same question and discuss the approaches. If you then look at four or five past papers on the same topic, you should be able to plan essays together. This is very helpful when exams roll around as you would have about four or five essays planned for each topic with input from different people. This will help develop your analysis and widen your point of view.
These are just a few“ tips” for examination preparation. The list is by no means exhaustive and is meant to be used a guide rather than a finite list of rules. All students study differently and the key is to ensure that your preparation is meaningful.
