FORM III VISITS LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR

By Form III and Mrs . McCabe
Form III went caroling at the Little Sisters of the Poor on a rainy January 19 . We sang Christmas carols like “ Rudolph ” and “ Jingle Bells ” in front of the residents at the home .
The fourth grade boys had the privilege of serving Mass , and for two of them , it was their first time . After Mass we enjoyed a delicious lunch with the residents .
In between Mass and lunch we were entertained by the colorful assortment of finches that the Sisters own .
We had a great time and all left with full stomachs !

EGYPTIAN CARTOUCHES IN FORM IV

By St . A Today Staff
Form IV used their imaginations and artistic skill to create Egyptian cartouches as part of their study of Ancient Egypt . Ancient Egyptians ( around 1500 BC ) believed that a dead person ’ s spirit would leave their body during the day , going off to do all the enjoyable things in the afterlife . At night , the spirit would return to sleep in its body . They believed that in order for the spirit to find its way back to the right body , the name had to be written down . Many people inscribed the names of their loved ones on tombs , coffins , cartouches , amulets , and other places — the more the better , just to be sure !
Fifth and sixth grade students learned to write their names in hieroglyphic , then artfully designed their cartouches using embossed metal of silver or gold , bright colors , and wooden plaques .
