Flood Resilience
The SFPUC is committed to providing flood
resilience through grant assistance for property
owners in flood risk areas and implementing SSIP
capital projects to meet the Level of Service storm.
In 2018 construction was completed for the Victoria/
Urbano, Foerster St Auxiliary, and Mangles/ Hearst/
Detroit Sewer Replacements. These projects, in the
Glen Park neighborhood, increase conveyance and
the City is
getting
capture stormwater to help prevent severe flooding
in a 3-hour storm, delivering 1.3 inches of rain.
Planning for the Lower Alemany Area Stormwater
Improvement Project was initiated in 2018 while
planning efforts for the Wawona Stormwater
Improvement Project continued. Design for the
Folsom Area Stormwater Improvement Project is
expected to begin in 2019.
