The Society for Radiological Protec on was founded as a learned society in 1963 . It became a registered charity in 1973 and was awarded a Royal Charter in 2007 .
The Society ' s objec ve , as stated in our Charter , is to “ promote the science and art of radia on protec on and allied fields for the public benefit ”.
This is therefore our Mission Statement . It defines what we do . The Charter goes on to list how we achieve this , and is summarised as :
To promote , advance and disseminate , to the public advantage , knowledge of radia on protec on ;
To encourage , support and advance educa on and learning in radia on protec on ; and
To promote high professional standards for the public benefit
