The Annual Conference was held on 4-7 July in Bournemouth – a slightly later timeslot to usual but it was great that we were finally able to hold an in-person event . Elbow bump instead of handshakes though when Jim Thurston took over as SRP President from Pete Bryant .
ICRP begins a very important Review of the System of Radiological Protection which will update the 2007 General Recommendations in ICRP 103 . This is the beginning of a process that will take several years , involving open and transparent engagement with organisations and individuals around the world . SRP has created a Working Group in order to ensure membership input into this important Review .
Council ' s First Face-to-Face Meeting since Dec 2019 and Patron ’ s Dinner The first meeting of SRP ' s Council for 2021-22 ( and the first face-to-face Council meeting for nearly two years ) was held in London in September . The evening before , Council held a special Dinner at The Honourable Society of Gray ’ s Inn hosted by SRP ’ s Patron Lord Carlile CBE QC and attended by Tony Faith CBE ( Chair of the UK Radiation Protection Council ) and Keith Lawrey ( Learned Societies ’ Liaison Officer at the Foundation for Science and Technology ).
