AREA GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE
CLUB VISIT TO SLCS AREA 46
Talking of my experience in toastmasters,
taking up responsibilities or participation
is the key to develop our leadership skills.
The more you give the more you benefit.
Please don’t shy away from opportunities
that come your way for those may not
repeat. While nominating officials for the
executive committees of SLCS and the
Area, I witnessed how backward we are
compared to our peers.
Mr President, members of the executive
committee, fellow toastmasters. A child
will always be happy to share and showoff
his achievements with his parents and
family whatever his age or position may be.
Likewise today I am so glad to stand in
front of you in my home club as your own
Area Governor. First and foremost my
sincere thanks to the Past Area Governor
TM Pandula Medawatta and the previous
committee for nominating me for this
position. It goes without saying, I’ll be the
happiest to serve you.
To brief you about the Area officers for this
term
DESIGNATION
Achieving DCP goals is one of the hot
topics discussed at Area, Division and
District levels. SLCS has a record of
working proactively towards DCP
goals hence I skip this topic not by
oversight but consciously.

A key activity in the Area is the Area
Contest. This year the dates for the
contests have been pre-determined to
avoid overlaps, and this would also
make the process of arranging judges
much convenient. We are aiming to
hold the area contest at soonest
possible, the date will be agreed at the
forthcoming Area council meeting.
Once, when I browsed the internet
about effective speaking, many
results emphasized the importance of
not speaking or speaking rightly.
Here we are, mastering the art of
speaking!!
For your benefit I urge all of you to participate in toastmaster activities and develop
to be great leaders.
I leave you with my heartiest wishes,
especially to the new President and
executive committee to have term filled
with success in all endeavors.
Explore, exploit and experience !
