Whenever I hear about Sri Lanka Club Symposium Toastmasters (SLCS), instantly a number of notable names will spring out in my mind. I can easily recall Distinguished Toastmasters Ahmed Rizvi and Mohd Salie. These distinguished personalities and a few other leaders propelled the club to its prominence and continue to be amongst the best contributors to the growth of Toastmasters in the region. I first set foot at the Sri Lankan Club through an invitation of my friend DTM Fe Gutierrez in 2005. The purpose of the invitation is to “take pictures” of the Division C Conference Committee. During that time, I was being lured to “go beyond the club”. Since that fateful day, I literally “went beyond my home club”, joined and participated in many district wide activities. I have attended many more SLCS meetings afterwards. I should then be grateful for SLC Toastmasters for contributing to my later career in Toastmasters. One of the fascinating spectacle and pride of every SLC Toastmasters meeting is its adherence to ‘parliamentary procedures’ and various ‘Toastmasters protocols’. This makes SLCS TM with a BIG Difference. The passion and dedication of its leaders ensure the legacy continues. I look forward to seeing and meeting many more leaders from SLCS Toastmasters.
