INTERNS ARRIVING Interns Arriving Simone Grund, Marketing Manager Simone is from Gothenburg, Sweden, and is about to finish her degree in marketing at the vocational university Yrgo. Writing plays a significant role in Simone’s life––she started a career in journalism at the age of 17. She’s always had a soft spot for the U.S., and spent a year in Washington D.C. in 2010/2011, studying journalism and marketing. She fell in love with the Capital, but is excited to explore a new city. And as an enthusiastic hockey fan, she’s also looking forward to watching the NHL live again. After her year in America she decided to quit journalism and try her hand at fiction. She spent a year in London, England, studying creative writing and English literature, and has written the first draft of a novel, that she’s still trying to work to perfection. She’s also worked several years in customer service. Simone is excited to join SACC-Philadelphia and is looking forward to improving her English further, learn more about American business culture as well as developing her marketing and communication sk ills. Stephanie Bien, Financial Manager Stephanie was born and raised in Örebro. Thanks to her mother being from Poland, she grew up in a home with two cultures and languages which has contributed greatly to her interest in travelling and learning about what life is like in different parts of the world. With her curious mind, she is always on the lookout for new challenges and adventures, and has managed to live, study and work in four countries as well as biked across North America since she left home. Right now, she is studying to become a Professional Congress Organizer in her hometown, and spent the last few months as a staff coordinator at one of the biggest music festivals in Sweden. Through the internship at the SACC, she hopes to broaden her knowledge about Swedish-American business relations and learn more about the fi- nancial aspects of such an important organization. page 9
