The Fundamentals of Daily Life
Math & Science
Problem-Solving and Critical thinking
The skill of problem-solving is invaluable. It is used in daily activities, such as calculating expenses, planning budgets, and so on. Critical thinking allows people to analyze the problem, find a pattern within the question and with related questions, and make informed decisions.
Shopping and Budgeting
Math allows you to compare prices and determine the best deal, add prices and quantities, calculate discounts, and so on. It also allows the comparison of the final price to the budget, which allows you to see if the final price is within the budget.
Travelling and Navigating
When traveling and navigating, maps and GPS are often used. They include geometric aspects, which means that they involve math. Identifying traffic patterns also involves statistics.
Technology
Many outputs of technology, such as computers, phones, the internet, and software, involve calculus, linear algebra, and algorithms.
Time Management
Math is also used in time management since we use calculations to split time for efficient use of it.
Many people often refer to math and science as“ the worst subjects” or rather“ the hardest subjects.” I agree that math and science are harder to grasp than other subjects. However, I disagree with the statement that math and science are the worst subjects. Just like any other subject, math and science provide fundamental learning experiences for students. They also show their significance in daily lives. Nowadays, technologies are basically related to everything and are the basics of a convenient life. Out of all the subjects, math and science are what matter the most with technology, which proves their importance. Not only in that aspect, but they also provide basic skills, knowledge, or even inventions for daily lives.
