DESCRIPTION OF“ THE MAZE RUNNER”
" The Maze Runner " is an engaging book that also evaluates a film. It tells the story of a company called WICKED, conducting experiments on gifted people they have selected. These individuals find themselves trapped in a survival test. They must rely on their instincts to survive, as terrifying creatures come out at night to hunt. The maze opens during the day and closes at night, and if someone is trapped inside when it closes, escaping can be nearly impossible. The characters have been stuck there for years with no hope of escape, as the maze changes its structure every time it opens and closes.
The differences between the movie and book of“ The Maze Runner”
There are significant differences between the movie and the book. The book contains additional details that provide a richer context for the story. In the book, it was mentioned that two character
Thomas and Teresa, had a telepathic mind, allowing them to read each other’ s thoughts, which hinted clues of a way of escaping. Teresa is the main key in the book, as she helps the others escap the maze and creates the plans for the escape, playing the main role. However, in the movie, there was nothing about Teresa and Thomas having a telepathic mind; instead, it was only Thomas who bravely went into the maze and tried to figure out the way out.
This leads to two different endings, where things are not mentioned. In the book, when Teresa arrives at the maze, she sits in a coma for a few weeks, but in the movie, Teresa faints and wakes u after a while, which are two different things that happen to the same character. The book highlight that Teresa was the hero because she helped everyone escape and plotted out great escapes; however, in the movie, Teresa doesn ' t receive any consideration for her efforts in planning to escape, she basically did nothing. In the book, it is mentioned that Teresa remembers key details about WICKED( the company that put them in the maze) and the experiments they conducted on her. But in the movie, after she wakes up from fainting, she doesn’ t remember anything or how she got to the maze in the first place, which takes the story in a different direction.
Many times, movies remove details that could enhance understanding and provide a clearer picture of the plot. Books, on the other hand, immerse you in dialogues, making it easier to understand character development, theme elements, and the overall story. In a book, you get to hear how the characters think and feel, which can sometimes convey their emotions more effectively than an actor ' s performance in a movie. While films often summarize the story, they don’ t capture the same depth and detail that books do.
