Was the the son of the river god Cephissus and the nymph Liriope. He was very beautiful and his mother was told by a blind seer that he would have a long life, provided he never
recognized himself. However after he rejected the nymph of love Echo, he fell in love with his own reflection in the waters of the spring. He stayed in that spot admiring himself until he passed away. flowers that bared his same name now called daffodils sprang up where he died. The flowers are forever peering downward to look at there own reflection.
