Global Electric has amplified its presence in Southern California , with the company ’ s primary location in Inglewood acting as the warehouse housing their trucks and equipment , and a satellite office in Anaheim . “ We now have more of our resources located in the County and City , closest to our work . We enjoy being part of and contributing to our community , and love being where the action is – the upcoming Olympics , soccer championship , and many other major events mean that there are always construction opportunities here ,” he says .
As Global Electric continues to grow its capacity and scope , William is excited about being able “ to support other general contractors on some of the marquee projects in Los Angeles while offering opportunities to others , thereby including them in the industry . We train them , provide them with experience and exposure on our projects , show them how to do business , and put them in a position to succeed in their respective fields . I ’ m particularly attracted to construction because you really cannot ‘ offshore ’ this industry , and we will always need to rebuild , expand and maintain our infrastructure , so there will always be opportunities in construction .”
William ’ s long-term goals are to add systems engineering and design to Global Electric ’ s available services , as well as to broaden their service area to include all of California , parts of Nevada , and Phoenix , Arizona .
William is quick to encourage anyone , particularly those who haven ’ t traditionally been in this industry , to make a career in the trades . “ The trades are a great place to be – there are lots of work opportunities and well-paid jobs , both locally and nationally . Perseverance is key because success does not happen overnight . The path is neither quick nor easy , but if you work hard and persevere , you can make a name for yourself and create business longevity .”
He points out the importance of “ reading every word in your contract because it ’ s guaranteed that anything you miss will come up later ,” and emphasizes the need to perform your work in a reliable , professional and consistent manner , while keeping in mind the needs of the other trades who are working on the same project . “ Overseeing labor , controlling costs , and proper financial and legal management are all critical and you will run into situations where you need professional guidance and representation . Also , never underestimate how long it will be before you get paid for the work you ’ ve completed ,” he adds .
