Diane Schull SBAND Board Member
What is your current position ? I am in private practice as the owner of Schull Law in Grand Forks . I focus my practice on family law , estate planning , and probate matters .
What is your hometown , college attended , and law school attended ? My hometown is Thompson , N . D . I received my undergraduate degree majoring in forensic science with minors in criminal justice and psychology from the University of North Dakota in 2007 . I attended the University of North Dakota School of Law in Dec . 2016 .
What professional work did you do before law school ? Prior to attending law school , I worked in the area of law enforcement . I began my career in 1993 as a 9-1-1 dispatcher , or as my son told his kindergarten teacher , a “ ditch patcher .” In 1997 , I moved into a position as the evidence coordinator for the Grand Forks Police Department where I continued until March 2015 . With training in forensic photography , shooting reconstruction , bloodstain pattern analysis , and crime scene reconstruction , I was certified by the International Association of Investigation as a Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst in 2009 . Additionally , I have worked in the area of family law as a parenting investigator and a lay guardian ad litem since 2008 .
What led you to a career in law ? As a parenting investigator and a lay guardian ad litem , I felt I could be doing more to help children as an attorney .
How long have you been on the SBAND Board ? I was elected to the SBAND Board of Governors in April 2023 .
What other involvement have you had with SBAND prior to being on the board ? I have been a member of the Parenting Investigator Review Board since 2018 .

What is the last book you read ( good or bad )? “ The Cat in the Hat ” while completing a home visit for a parenting investigation .

Since January 2008 , SBANO has offered a member assistance program for its members and their families . More information on the program is available at the SBANO website , http :// www . sband . org .
PERSONAL PROBLEMS : The MAP Program offers counseling services to SBANO members and their families for personal problems such as marriage and other family concerns . The focus is not on who is at fault , but how to reach a solution . Most people get the help they need in the eight sessions a year that are provided at no cost .

The SBANO Member Assistance Program offers confidential , professional counseling services in locations across the state of North Dakota for a variety of concerns , emotional crisis , financial and family difficulties , substance abuse evaluations and workrelated problems . Members and their families are entitled to receive up to eight counseling sessions per identified problem area at no charge for each calendar year .
