Founded in 1899 , and steeped in rich tradition , the University of North Dakota ( UND ) School of Law is the state ’ s only law school and has shaped the legal environment of North Dakota . We offer a high-quality legal education at an affordable price .
As the cost of higher education continues to rise , however , School of Law alumni like you are committed to supporting our students as they go out into the world of legal practice .
Such was the case with class of 1983 alum Sheldon Smith and his classmates . After reflecting on the enormous impact of the UND School of Law on them and considering the shortage of practicing lawyers in North Dakota , Sheldon pledged $ 25,000 to create the Law School Challenge Endowment .
It comes with an invitation : He asks you and all School of Law classes to join him in supporting scholarships by giving to the Law School Challenge Endowment .
The Law School Challenge will support tuition and fees for students at the UND School of Law who intend to stay in North Dakota to practice law after graduation . The intention is to address the state ’ s shortage of lawyers , especially in western North Dakota .

You can be a part of the Law School Challenge by making a gift to the endowment today . Do your part to elevate your graduating class to the top of the challenge by June 30 , 2023 .
