SBAND High School Mock Trial Competition
On April 11 , students from Legacy High School and Alexander High School participated in the State Bar Association of North Dakota ’ s ( SBAND ) High School Mock Trial Competition . The competition was held in the Burleigh County Courthouse , Bismarck .
Presiding judge volunteers were Judge Britta Joyce , Bismarck , and Nicholas Nelson , Wahpeton . Attorney volunteer scoring judges were Kristin Binder , Pat Brooke , William Behrmann , and Brad Peterson , all of Bismarck .
Alexander High School
Alexander High School took first place in this year ’ s competition . The team ’ s teacher is Amber Severson and attorney coach is Judge Daniel El-Dweek . Legacy High School took home the second-place prize . The team ’ s teacher is Brittany Ramlo and attorney coach is Erik Edison .
The SBAND High School Mock Trial Program is an exciting lawrelated education program that introduces students to the American legal system and provides a challenging opportunity for personal growth and achievement . The program brings together attorneys , judges , students , and teachers from across the state . The competition was a great learning experience for students and attorneys / judges who participated to make the 2023 High School Mock Trial Competition a great success .
