YOUNG LAWYER SHOWCASE
The Young Lawyer Section (YLS) held its annual statewide food drive May 4-8 through a virtual food drive. Thank you to
all who donated. YLS will be holding board elections in June. Available positions include a one-year term as president-
elect, immediately followed by a one-year term as president (two-year commitment), secretary-treasurer (one-year term),
and Board of Governors representative (completing second year of two-year term). If you have any questions or are

BRITTANY GEFROH
Brittany Gefroh is a term
law clerk to the Honorable
Peter D. Welte, Chief
Judge of the United
States District Court
for the District of North
Dakota. Prior to clerking
for Judge Welte, she
served as a term law clerk
to the Honorable Ralph
R. Erickson for two years,
primarily as an appellate
clerk due to Judge
Erickson’s elevation to the Eighth Circuit.
Gefroh grew up in Bismarck and graduated from
Century High School. She earned a bachelor of arts
degree in journalism with a minor in public relations
and advertising from North Dakota State University.
She continued her education at the University of
Minnesota Law School, where she graduated magna
cum laude.
While in law school, Gefroh dedicated much of
her time to the legal writing program. She helped
develop an optional class for 1Ls desiring extra help
with legal writing, participated in National Moot Court
as a student director and competition team member,
and created the case record and bench memo for the
law school’s largest moot court. She also externed for
a federal judge in Minneapolis, Minn.
Gefroh currently resides in Fargo. She enjoys traveling
to national and state parks, watching sports, playing
ukulele, and spending time with friends and family.

VICTORIA THORESON
Victoria Thoreson is an
associate attorney at
Morley Law Firm, Ltd, in
Grand Forks. Thoreson is
licensed to practice in North
Dakota and focuses her
practice on civil litigation
defense, including personal
injury, wrongful death,
construction, and insurance
litigation. She is also a
special assistant attorney
general for Workforce Safety and Insurance.
Thoreson attended Lake Region State College and
earned an associate in science degree with a certificate in
practical nursing in 2015. Her career as a licensed practical
nurse has focused mainly on working with geriatric
patients, and she is a certified dementia practitioner by
the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.
Following graduation from Mayville State University with
a bachelor of university studies, she attended law school
at the University of North Dakota. While in law school,
she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Delta Theta
Phi. During the summer of 2017, she externed for the
Honorable Tamara Yon with the Ninth Judicial District of
Minnesota, and following her externship, she interned as a
law clerk for Morley Law Firm, Ltd. In May 2019, Thoreson
graduated with her juris doctor with a certificate in Indian
and Tribal law.
During her spare time, she enjoys working as a nurse
at Maple View Memory Care in Grand Forks, a good
workout, kayaking, paddleboarding, and spending time
with her partner, Matt.
