Sam and Chip’s story: From forlorn to fabulous Chip was underweight when he arrived Sam was badly matted and underweight On 22nd June 2015, Inspector Griffiths removed two dogs from a property in Sherborne and brought them to West Hatch. They had been kept in the garden with no water, inadequate amounts of food, and a shelter which was only big enough for one dog. Sam the Airedale went to stay with Jacky, who has always had Airedales of her own, and Chip went to stay with Rosemary and her Labrador Bracken. Inspector Griffiths had previously visited the property with a vet, and despite being given advice on how to improve their welfare, their owner had not made any changes when she returned. They were both underweight on arrival, and Sam the Airedale had a matted coat.
