LeBron James is playing the best basketball of his career, and that is saying something coming after a year of winning an NBA title and the MVP award. James set an NBA recordrecently with six consecutive games with 30+ points per game with at least 60% shooting from the field. That is incredible, and not just for the production, but the efficiency. With James' game at an alltime high, we can seriously hold the Jordan vs LeBron debate.
Before I give my opinion, I will let the self proclaimed "King" James weigh in on it himslef. "I'm not MJ, I'm LJ." LeBron tweeted.
MJ OR LJ?
In a backyard match, If I was given a pick between LeBron or Jordan in his prime, I would probably chose LeBron. For an entire season, that would be a different story. But for one game, I would take LeBron's freakish athleticism. The thing is, Jordan had Pippen and then Rodman on top of that. Before Pippen joined Jordan, MJ hadn't won a thing. Now, James has Wade and Bosch. But, before then he took a terrible Cleveland roster all the way to the Finals.
I seriously believe LeBron could end his career with five or six Titles and five or six MVP awards. Jordan finished his career with 5 MVPs and 6 rings. That would make for a pretty interesting argument.
I think that we should still wait a while before we give LeBron the title of "Best Of All Time." The key numbers are 6 and 1, the Championships each have won. To be more fair, since LeBron has not yet finished his career and Jordan has, we will compare the beginning of Jordan's career to LeBron's. Through the first 278 games of each player's career, LeBron earned 1 ring in 3 Finals appearances and Jordan earned 3 rings in 3 Finals appearances. Still in favor of MJ. The thing is, while LeBron may not be able to do what Jordan did as well as he did, he does things that Jordan wast never able to do.
