COACHING CAROUSEL

By: Ryan Welte

San Diego: Norv Turner was released by the Chargers after failing season after season to meet expectations. The Chargers are a good destination for a coach with Phillip Rivers, Ryan Matthews, and Antonio Gates leading a potent offends. The issue is the defense, but a good new coach and good draft picks could fix their problems. As for Turner, he will be a great offensives coordinator and I could see him fitting somewhere like Carolina to developed the young and talented Cam Newton.

Philadelphia: The Eagles released Andy Reid, who was he longest tenured coach of he 7 fired on Black Monday. He will have a job somewhere

if he wants one and will be the most sought after

coach on the market. Philly is a decent place to go for

a head coach with talent at every position. They just

need someone to channel that talent into victories on

the field.

Tennessee: The Titans finished the season ---- and are

in the same boat as the Carolina Panthers. Hey haven't

fired or committed to their current coach ----. I think

they should keep him. Give him a year to see of their

drafts choice Jake Locker pans out, and then consider

firing him if it fails.

Dallas: The Cowboys came up with yet another disappointing season, missing he playoffs due to a loss to the Redskins in Week 17. Jerry Jones has to make a decision on whether or not to continue win the Garrett-Romo era. I sure would, unless I absolutely knew hat I could get a Provence coach like Bill Cowherd or John Gruden, and they don't seem to want to return to the sideline. With Romo, there aren't many QBs in the NFL better than he is.

Detroit: Jim Schwartz is going to be the coach of he Lions for another year, but I wouldn't let that happen. The Lions are extremely poorly coached and undisciplined. Hey need to draft players that are willing to play football with their head, and nit with their emotions (which means not drafting Sub and Fairley), and they need a coaching staff that can control their players. The Lions have talent with Stafford and Calvin Johnson, so a 4-12 season is inexcusable. Jim Schwartz isn't getting fired, but he is the worst coach in the league.
