THE OPINION COLUMN

How Overrated is Tom Brady?

Once again Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have fallen just short of their ultimate goal. This time, it was the Baltimore Ravens that did the honors. This leaves me to wonder how "All Time Great" Tom Brady truly is.

In both of the last two AFC and NFL Championships that Tom Brady played in, he was outperformed by the opposition's QB (Eli Manning and Joe Flacco). Neither of them are considered all time greats, but Tom Brady is? I'll argue that.

Brady started off his career with a bang going 10-0 in his first 10 playoff starts and winning three Super Bowls. Then the decline began. Since those 10 starts, he has had 14 more in the NFL post season. In those 14 he has gone a meager 7-7 and nothing better than two Super Bowl losses to show for it. Is it just me, or should an "All Time Great" Quarterback do better than that in his prime?

Both Brady and Belichick need to win another Super Bowl to be considered "All Time Greats" in my eyes. Neither have won it all since the Spy-Gate scandal and their last Super Bowl victory was an entire eight years ago. Brady also has not won the trophy without a truly legit defense either. Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, and Mike Vrabel aren't here to help him anymore.

In his first three playoff runs in which he won 3 Super Bowls, he threw for an amazing 11 touchdowns and 3 Interceptions. In his 7 playoff appearances since then, he has thrown a much worse ratio with 31 TDs and 19 INTs.

Now, I'm not ignoring the 3 Super Bowls, I'm just saying that in order for Brady to be recognized as

on of the all time greats

for me, he has to win

another one and soon.

The NFL is a league

about "what have you

done for me lately,"

and Tom Brady's

answer is: about

nothing.
