They are led by the team of Chairman Ken Rutherford and President Phil Brookbanks and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. First founded in 1975, the club did not start out at its current home and actually spent its first four years on land owned by the Colliery Farm spanning from the fields from Homedale to opposite the Terrace. The clubs first Chairman was a Mr Sidney Bates, the owner of the then West Wylam Colliery. Since first being established the club has gone on to put together a history of which it has every right to be proud. The progress that has been made is a credit to the hard work of the Club’s officials, and the loyal support of its members. They will be looking to continue in the same manner for many years to come. The course itself is situated just ten miles west of Newcastle and has built a reputation for being one of the best in the area. This gives players the chance to warm up before taking on the full course and is a particularly convenient option as it can be played in less than an hour. Prudhoe Golf Club is always keen to encourage youngsters to get involved in golf and is able to offer junior sessions in the summer. This gives them a chance to try out the game and also receive coaching from the club professional which can be a major boost in helping them to develop their skills and reach their full potential. They also run a coaching academy. It is important for any club to be able to produce their own talent if they are to be successful over a sustained period of time and this is an area that they appear to have covered.
