Titchfield titchfield amateur boxing club amateur BOXING CLUB T itchfield Amateur Boxing Club is based at The Recreation Ground on Mill Lane and they are a terrific example of a well-run community establishment that provides males and females from the ages of nine to forty with an opportunity to get involved in the sport. They are affiliated to England Boxing and AIBA. For the most part they are a competitive club but do also put on classes for members that are looking to improve their general fitness levels with Non-Contact Boxing training. A major part of the work that they do relates to youth development and although participants cannot box until they are eleven anyone younger can still take part in a number of skill bouts. The club provides anyone taking part with all of the necessary equipment except for handwraps and gumshields. Members are expected to wear their own sports shoes and clothing when they train. They are always looking to progress further and are determined to introduce weekly boxing training sessions for disabled people once they receive the guidelines from National governing Body England Boxing. This promises to be another exciting development for Titchfield and it will be interesting to see how it is able to progress. One of the key figures at the club is Louis Stamp who initially joined as a schoolboy before returning in a coaching role. He also takes care of many of the club’s projects and www.titchfieldboxingclub.co.uk www.sportip.biz 55
