Alderley edge golf club to encourage them to hold their golf-days with us or simply drop in for a game as visitors.” Junior Golf “Youth development is the future of AEGC. Over the years we have been blessed with a very active junior section and this season we will continue to actively promote Junior Golf at the club with our excellent facilities and first class teaching from professionals Charles Le Sueur and assistant Martin Tavoda. Martin sits on the junior golf committee and is actively setting up links with local schools.” Challenges “The biggest challenge for us will be to maintain a sustainable level of membership in a very competitive market that has seen golf clubs fail or struggle to trade. We are very keen to maintain a solid membership core but are aware that over 70% of modern day golfers are nomadic and are not affiliated to a specific golf club. We seek to provide excellent facilities on and off the course that are competitive and attractive to all new and existing members and visitors, and balance the needs of all users.” Rewarding aspects of my role “As Chairman it is my role to ensure that all company matters are run in line with best practice. The rewarding aspect of the role of Chairmanship is to help and direct the many members who act on Council and the various sub committees to ensure we maintain the continuing success, existing spirit and values of AEGC. To play a part and act as custodian of such a wonderful organisation provides great satisfaction and makes me value the golf club that I joined over 40 years ago.” 124x87mm Alderley Edge Set Menu Ad v1.pdf 1 04/02/2015 14:11 www.aegc.co.uk - Twitter : @AlderleyGolf- Founded 1907 www.sportip.biz 49
