The Play Their Way movement exemplifies how to integrate the concept of a shift in thinking with great coach autonomy , serving as a model for effecting significant behaviour change in coaching .
The campaign is spearheaded by the Children ’ s Coaching Collaborative – a collective of 17 like-minded organisations , whose goal is to create a nation of child-first coaches .
The movement is dedicated to transforming the way children and young people are coached by prioritising their enjoyment and needs , championing every child ’ s voice , choice , and journey .
The campaign challenges the traditional narrative of success in sport and physical activity , inspiring children to enjoy being active in their own unique way and motivating them to maintain an active lifestyle throughout their lives .
Good coaching practice means setting the constraints then letting play develop , putting the onus on the children to find their own solutions .
