Following a short break of around 10 minutes, the mains arrived, I decided on one of my childhood favourites, Sausage and Mash, but this time with a difference. This time I had a trio of local game sausages with creamy mash and red oinion gravy. I have to say that this was one of the best interpretations of sausage and mashh I have ever had.

As I decided on one of my favourite dishes, so did Kate; she decided in the pork belly with apply sauce and black pudding bonbons. I have to say the presentation of both dishes was incredible. With crispy skin and tender meat, the pork belly will be remembere/ for its devine taste and crispy skin.

With a slightly longer break between our main course and the dessert I decided to take a look around the building. With slate floors and wooden beams with crackling fires and low lighting; this really set the scene for a romantic meal.

As the desserts arrived, childhood memories came flooding back as the smell of warm sticky toffee pudding hit my nose, with icecream and hot sticcky toffee sauce too, I was in heaven. As many of you will know, Cartmel is famous for it's sticky toffee pudding, even our majesty the queen has eaten it.

Without my sweet tooth, Kate opted for the cheese board this too was served on a slate with different cheeses and biscuits with chutneys to accompany the cheese, this too as with all the dishes served that night looked amazing.
