FEATURE SPEC TRUM By Patty Carolino Spectrum, also known as the SPEED Disability Awareness Week is the organization’s external finance-advocacy project which aims to spread awareness towards people with special needs (PWSN) to a larger community outside the organization through the sale of SPEED merchandise. The main products of Spectrum are the shirts which were especially designed by some of the students from our partner institutions. The first design, which showcases a drawing of a colorful concentric circle with different patterns in it, was designed by Thirdy and Cedric of the Bridges Foundation School. While the firework design was drawn by Czarina of The Child’s World School. At the back of the shirt is a tagline, stating, “Someone special made this shirt for me.” Far beyond the word special as a general term used for the students, we wanted to emphasize how these children truly hold a special place and part in our lives. This is also the reason why we have chosen to sell iced candies alongside the shirts. The iced candies that are to be sold are those which can be halved 8
