artistic journey began on a farm just north of Memphis in Raleigh , Tennessee .
Early on , she captured scenes from her rural surroundings and frequent trips to the Gulf Coast , developing a deep connection to nature and the coast . In 1956 , she accepted her first art commission , launching a career that would span decades .
Ching is renowned for her large watercolors and acrylics , which often depict natural subjects with a fresh , uncluttered perspective . Her talents also extended to designing postage stamps for over 30 foreign countries and contributing to greeting cards , children ' s books , and various products .
Her artistry is also reflected in public works , including three bronze designs installed on the Biloxi Bay Bridge and a ceramic mural in Ocean Springs , Mississippi . Ching ’ s love for the Gulf Coast is evident in both her life and work . After living in Italy for five years , she returned to her true home along the coast , settling in Loxley , Alabama , where she continues to create in a small studio .
