THE BIRTH OF FREEDOM FEST
We gave those Shrimp Festival vendors and artists priority to register for Freedom Fest and many did participate . They were thankful for the opportunity .
City staff stepped up and within three-and-a-half weeks The Wharf was home to a bustling Freedom Fest . Police Chief Steve Brown came up with the name as it represented the people ' s choice to attend or not . People have the right to choose what they wish to attend and decide the risks they are willing to take , especially for an outdoor event like this one .”
An estimated 15,000 people attended our inaugural event that was a resounding success thanks to the community pulling together through sponsorships and other support .
With that success , the festival continued with many entities stepping up to help over the past few years including Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism , McLean Motorsports Productions ’ Bama Coast Cruisin ’ Car Show , Flora-Bama / CoastAL , The Marshals Mardi Gras motorcycle group , Island Time Jeepers , many military branches , and Coastal Alabama Business Chamber , just to name a few . This year , the Gulf Coast Gun Collectors Association has stepped up to hold a gun show in conjunction with the festival as well .
Freedom Fest weekend epitomizes red , white , and blue American nostalgia . Please come join us as we celebrate the greatest country in the history of the world ……. The United States of America .
PLEASURE ISLAND PARKING RIBBON CUTTING
The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured remarks from local dignitaries , including Gulf Coast Chamber representatives and community leaders , who highlighted the importance of the new facility in addressing parking challenges and supporting local tourism . Attendees enjoyed a reception with refreshments , and the facility was open for tours , showcasing its features .
David Pelechak and Spencer Frank delivered remarks highlighting the facility ’ s features and the positive impact it will have on the local community and tourism industry .
