EMBRACING THE OPEN ROAD
For many , the riding life is synonymous with adventure . Whether it ' s a weekend trip to a nearby town or a cross-country journey , every ride offers the promise of discovery . Motorcyclists often talk about the allure of the unknown , the excitement of exploring new places , and the thrill of overcoming challenges on the road . The adventure isn ' t just in the destinations — it ’ s in the journey itself , in the unexpected detours , the scenic routes , and the camaraderie with fellow riders met along the way .
My wife and I began our cross-country riding adventures with a flight to Denver , Colorado . From there , we rented a touring bike and set out for Grand Junction , taking in breathtaking views and creating unforgettable memories along the way . While we have a great touring motorcycle at home , flying to different regions and renting bikes allows us to explore more of our beautiful country , especially when our time away is limited .
In future issues , I will write more about the places and countries we have visited , all from the comfort of a touring bike . I will write more about riding the Baja peninsula to Cabo , the Wild Atlantic Way of Ireland , and the timeless scenery of Italy . For now , we are planning our next ride throughout New Zealand after retirement . Stay safe when you ride . Onward and upward !
