BLUNDERS OF THE CHURCH Ever since ancient times people needed temples, priests and sacred rituals. Does this not mean that the necessity for faith in the afterlife was encoded in the human soul and has manifested since the earliest times? One of the differences between then and now is that life then was much more limited and crude, and people needed to trust in something stronger than them to withstand the harsh hardships of life. Today our lives are greatly facilitated, full of all sorts of material goods and pleasures, which seems to have dulled this need to trust in something bigger than us. As if we do not have time to ask ourselves why we came to Earth, what is the complete meaning of life, where we come from and whereto we are going. Different religions offer different answers (though not so distant in meaning), but let's not forget that they all are written by people, and we humans, may as advanced we be, make mistakes. Another important thing to remember is that spirituality is too complex to be expressed precisely with the limited capacity of our languages. Therefore, scriptures are expressed mostly in allegories, their meaning is conditional and relative, few things can be 5
