Sister Nancy ‘Centered’ in New Ministry
After serving six years as General
Superior, Sister Nancy Dawson still
has big responsibility in her new
ministry, which begins Aug. 1.
Sister Mary McCormick has
appointed Sister Nancy Executive
Director of The Ursuline Center.
“I welcome the opportunity to
continue the mission and ministries
of Ursuline founder St. Angela
Merici, who responded to the needs of her times,” Sister Nancy says.
“She was always a beacon of hope, hospitality, and inclusivity.”
Sister Nancy says 13 Sisters assist in various capacities at the Center,
along with lay people and Ursuline Associat es, and notes that the many
ministries offered there include SilverSneakers® and aquatic programs.
“Our Center Auditorium is available to use for reasonable donations,”
Sister Nancy adds. “We welcome people to call us for such familyoriented gatherings as Baptism, First Communion and graduation
parties, showers, and birthdays. The Center offers a fully equipped
kitchen, classrooms, retreat bedroom space, and a beautiful chapel.”
Sister Nancy also is a part-time instructor at Youngstown State
University teaching World Religions. She’ll soon offer a lecture series on
that subject at the Center. “I invite everyone to attend,” she says.
“Be kind
and compassionate
toward
each other .”
