Randy Isaac
Known as “ The man with the golden voice ”, Randy is a versatile artiste who places great emphasis on the rendition of his songs . At an early age , Randy ’ s singing ability was discovered by his stepfather Thomas “ Dixie ” Peterswho was a well-known guitarist .
Born Randolph Isaac in Hope , St . Andrew ’ s , Grenada , Randy has become one of Grenada ’ s most consistent artistes with a career which began in 1986 . Randy is a shortened name which was given to him by the leader of his then backing band , Moss International .
His first song was Free South Africa - a social commentary which called for the end of apartheid in South Africa written by well-known Grenadian Calypsonian Teacher Eddie . This song earned him the St . Andrew Junior Calypso Monarch Title and 2nd place in the National Junior Monarch Competition . The following year 1987 , Randy won the National Junior Monarch crown with his selection My Inspiration . Since then , Randy continues to produce a variety of calypso , Soca and groovy songs which thrilled audiences at home and abroad . He has performed to enthusiastic crowds on numerous occasions in New York , Texas , Washington DC , Maryland , Virginia , Toronto ,
Montreal , London , France , and several islands in the West Indies including St . Vincent and Trinidad .
Among his major achievements is the Grenada Soca Monarch Title in 1996 . In 2001 , 2006 and 2012 Randy placed 2nd in the National Calypso Monarch competition . In 2005 , he placed 2nd in the National Soca Monarch Competition with his popular hit “ What You Give Me to Rub .” He also placed 2nd in the Road March that same year . Randy captured the Groovy Soca Monarch title in 2009 and 2011 . He placed 2nd in the Groovy Soca Monarch competition in 2010 and 2012 . Randy represented Grenada in Trinidad on two occasions : 1997 in the Trinidad Soca Monarch competition and 2010 in the Trinidad Groovy Monarch Competition . Randy also showed his performance talent by capturing the Grenada Independence Calypso Monarch New York title on five occasions .
Randy has produced more than 24 albums to date . They include , Better Carnival , Salsa she Want , Red Light , In Control , Y2K Carnival and Woman . Com . Several hits emerged from the albums including Humpback in 1991 , Six for Nine in 2006 , Margarita in 2002 , the mega hits , What She Give Me to Rub in
2005 , Propaganda in 2006 and More Mass in 2010 . Some of the other hits that molded the Randy Isaac ’ s success image are social commentaries : My country / Oh Grenada ( 1990 ), System killing me ( 2001 ) What are the chances ? ( 2005 ), Trouble in Democracy ( 2005 ) Son of the Soil ( 2009 ) and Social Focus in 2012 .
Randy continues to impress audiences with the unique melodious voice . His stamina and drive that he exhibits on the stage has him ranked among those famous calypsonians who have kept listeners entertained throughout history . He is looking to entertain at the upcoming Spice Island Cultural Festival in Montreal from July 11 to July 14 , 2024 .
