When a group of enthusiasts and the Grenada Culinary Network ( GCN ) met last year for a series of talks , sparks flew . The ideas were that bright . As stakeholders who care about investing in the culinary growth of Grenada , Carriacou , and Petite Martinique , they shared ideas for a cookbook and pledged resources towards the creation of a 12-24-month , chefdirected internship . Officially called The Ambassadorship Program , the internship ’ s intention is to offer Grenada ’ s emerging chefs a pathway to enhance their culinary skills through hands-on experience working in Muskoka , Ontario .
GCN ’ s CEO Chef Anthony Mair explained the planned outcome to Mélange last July , saying :
“ Once the chefs are back on the island and running their own businesses , contributing to society , they will be Grenada ’ s ambassadors .”
This year we spoke with Chef Mair on the status of the Ambassadorship Program , which includes the creation of the Grenada-Licious ! Cookbook .
Q . What is the GCN ?
A . The Grenada Culinary Network is the sister body of the Caribbean Culinary Network which formed in 2012 . Our goal was to amplify the culinary contributions of Caribbean chefs throughout the Diaspora , including students , through a range of programs and initiatives .
