In a world like ours,
technology is in very high demand due to its widespread usage and great popularity throughout the generation. A graphic tablet
appearance wise is similar to an iPad but with or without a screen along with a stylus which is a pen that is used on the surface of
the tablet and inputs the strokes you’ve made onto the screen of the laptop or on the tablet itself. Graphic Tablets are mainly
used by people with an art major for a few reasons you’ll be reading further in this article. The Graphic tablets have been a trend
for quite a few years now and lately have been capturing the hearts of more artists.
Graphic tablets overall have many advantages, such as saving paper, saving money and increasing the speed of projects. They
may be expensive, but you’d make up for it with the money you earn by selling your projects online. Our generation is still rather
new to digital art at this good quality, and so there is a good market for digital art. Therefore, you save money by not buying
paper as well as you save paper by not using it. For animators, it increases their speed, because their strokes appear directly on
the screen of their tablet and/or the monitor screen of their PCs or laptops.
On the other hand, graphic tablets, like any other invention, have disadvantages. They may sometimes display different color
resolutions when displayed on different electronics, which may cause trouble for your artwork as well as your client as it could be
not what they asked for. Even though this modern world is big on technology, the artistic universe does not yet fully rely on it.
Most of the jobs related to art these days do require for you to have experience in both digital and traditional work. Other
disadvantages can possibly include the fact that that some artistic people could have eye problems, therefore using the tablet
may worsen their situation.
Possibly one of the most well-known graphic tablet brand is Wacom. They have a wide range of selection with different types of
tablets for specific jobs. Each of their products has specialized and also common controls. One of the best-known tablet from
Wacom is the Bamboo, which was exclusively meant to work with Manga Studio FX or Clip Studio Paint, though other tablets can
be used with these two software too. It’s neighbor tablet is the Intuos, which is mostly recommended for beginners because it
doesn’t have many difficult controls, unlike the Cintiq, which is most popular amongst animators and other kinds of artists
because of its screen.
A graphic designer that I personally know said that for graphic design specifically, you need a tablet. This is due to the fact that you can’t do much using your hand and mouse, because it’s just difficult to control.
So overall, readers of the lovely Spectrum magazine, whether you buy one or not is entirely up to you. Just keep in mind all the
advantages and disadvantages.
