Solid silicones
Also within the solid formats and waterless themes , Wacker Chemie presented its new ‘ Solids & Concentrates ’ line . In particular , the new water-compatible silicone resin elastomer gel Belsil REG 1103 is said to combine desirable sensory properties with easy dissolution in water by acting as an emulsifier , thus making it easier to dissolve the solid formulation . “ Mixing the gel with water produces a stiff cream characterised by a fullbodied , homogeneous texture . Belsil REG 1103 B combines the skin-sensory properties of non-cross-linked silicone polymers with the film-forming effects of silicone resins ,” the firm stated . Another Wacker formulation was a new kind of translucent , non-sticky and fast-drying brow soap formulated as a stiff gel . This incorporated Belsil PF 100 , a polyfunctional phenyl silicone fluid with a higher refractive index than conventional alternatives . It is designed for hair care products and decorative cosmetics . The new products on show from the Surface Solutions business unit of Merck KGaA were RonaCare Baobab and RonaCare Hibiscus . Both , said global strategic marketing manager Elena Nunno , were developed from the pulp of nutrient-rich superfoods , the baobab fruit and the hibiscus flower . Applications are envisaged in skin care products of all kinds . The former offers “ strong protection of skin matrix components , especially elastin and collagens ” and to reduce skin irritation , while the latter “ minimises skin irritation , supports the care of sensitive skin , shields from oxidative stress , protects collagens from degradation and increases skin cells ’ vitality ,” the company said .
