Figure 3 Acne balancing effects: Visual results
Pantrofina Bakuclear RSPO MB, the amount of active bakuchiol delivered in both groups was equivalent.
The study measured changes in acne lesion area and volume, sebum excretion and overall skin appearance. The results confirmed the enhanced bioavailability and efficacy of the water-dispersible bakuchiol. After 28 days of treatment, both Pantrofina Bakuclear RSPO MB and pure bakuchiol demonstrated reduced acne spot volume and area( Figure 1).
The former resulted in statistically significant improvements, with a 13.6 % decrease in acne spot volume and a 12.9 % reduction in spot area relative to baseline. These results outperformed the reference formulation, which showed reductions of 6.8 % and 5.7 % respectively, neither of which reached statistical significance.
Moreover, the formulation containing Pantrofina Bakuclear RSPO MB resulted in a statistically significant 14.8 % reduction in sebum secretion after 28 days, demonstrating greater efficacy than the reference formulation with pure Bakuchiol, which achieved 11.2 %( Figure 2). Notably, 80 % of participants using the water-dispersible product reported visible skin improvement and a better sensory experience, supporting the tested formulation ' s effectiveness and tolerability.
Furthermore, standardised photographs and panellists ' acne lesion analysis provided clear visual evidence of the clinical efficacy of the tested formulation. Improvements in acne lesion size, inflammation, and overall skin appearance were observed consistently following 28 days of treatment with the Pantrofina Bakuclear RSPO MB formulation( Figure 3). These visual outcomes align with the instrumental data, reinforcing the formulation’ s effectiveness in addressing acne-prone skin.
Addressing formulation challenges
As a pre-formulated system, Pantrofina Bakuclear RSPO MB presents key advantages over pure bakuchiol in formulation development. It reduces development and processing time, facilitates seamless incorporation into diverse formulation formats, such as gels, emulsions and foams, and ensures improved active ingredient dispersion. It also improves batch-to-batch reproducibility.
The ingredient is compatible with cold-process systems, enabling formulators to maintain the integrity of heat-sensitive actives and reduce energy consumption. Additionally, the RSPO Mass Balance certification and the use of readily biodegradable excipients align with sustainability goals increasingly prioritised by both brands and consumers.
Conclusion
Water-soluble bakuchiol represents a significant advance in applying botanical actives for acne-prone, oily and sensitive skin types. Pantrofina Bakuclear RSPO MB delivers all the benefits of bakuchiol in a userfriendly, pre-solubilised format tailored for modern, minimalistic, and sustainable formulations.
As consumer demand for lightweight, non-irritating, multifunctional skincare continues to rise, this innovative solution enables formulators to meet these expectations with both performance and elegance. ●
