IPPs former Novartis API plant in Grimsby , UK , hits the market
Imagine discovering a once-ina-lifetime opportunity to expand or reshore critical ingredient manufacturing operations , now available for less than 10 % of the cost of building new facilities . It ’ s not a dream .
International Process Plants ( IPP ) has unveiled its speciality chemical and API manufacturing plant in Grimsby , UK . The 190-acre ( 76-hectare ) site , previously owned by Novartis , is now for sale or lease . This state-of-the-art , fully installed cGMP API manufacturing facility boasts over 1,200 m ³ of reaction capacity , distributed among 154 reactors across three process buildings , and includes downstream centrifugation , filtration , drying , milling and other process steps . Grimsby offers unrivalled production capabilities in stainless steel , glasslined and Hastelloy metallurgies , along with fully integrated infrastructure .
“ This isn ’ t just an incredible piece of real estate and equally impressive equipment ; it ' s about revolutionising how customers approach manufacturing ,” says Ron Gale , President of IPP . “ This is a turnkey solution for companies eager to fasttrack commercial-scale production and enhance operations .”
Ross Gale , IPP ’ s Vice President of Acquisitions , emphasises Grimsby ' s strategic value . “ In today ' s competitive landscape , time is of the essence ,” he notes . “ Grimsby presents an opportunity for manufacturers to expedite expansion plans and stay ahead of the curve , whether as a path to reshoring or enhancing supply security .”
Tony Field , Managing Director of IPP Europe , highlights the financial and time savings . “ The cost to acquire and develop land , and plan and build facilities of similar scale could take five years and cost over € 1 billion . A company could likely acquire this facility for less than 10 % of that outlay .” The site is well documented , cGMP compliant , and clean of all products and chemicals . “ This is as close to turnkey as we can make it ,” Field adds .
The location also features :
• Reaction , crystallisation , hydrogenation , filtration , and drying , among its process systems and chemistry capabilities .
• An additional 80 acres ( 32 hectares ) available for expansion or renewable energy production .
• Three tank farms at three production buildings , each with 20 to 40 tanks .
• A warehouse with controlled drug substance ( CDS ) vault storage .
• Proximity to key transportation hubs , including Humberside Airport , Manchester Airport , and the Port of Immingham .
• A range of on-site facilities and employee amenities .
“ This facility is about so much more than manufacturing ,” says Jan Gale , IPP ’ s Executive Vice President . “ When you tour it , you gain an appreciation for Novartis . It ’ s no surprise they ’ re regularly on the list of the world ’ s most admired pharmaceutical companies ”
In recent weeks , IPP also acquired a food fermentation plant in Little Falls , Minnesota , expanding its portfolio to include assets in the fermentation and biochemical industry . Days later , it acquired a detergent manufacturing plant in Lomazzo , Italy .
Earlier this year , the company launched Gale Process Solutions ( GPS ), entering the new process equipment manufacturing market . GPS designs and builds worldclass alloy and glass-lined process equipment for the chemical , cGMP pharmaceutical , food , herbicides , pesticides , and flavours and fragrances industries , promising quick delivery times , high quality , and competitive pricing .
