Doing the Charleston again

Specialty & Agro Chemicals America is back at its regular venue . We take a look ahead

The fourth Specialty & Agro Chemicals America event – widely known as Chemicals America – returns to the Belmond Place Hotel in Charleston , South Carolina , on 7-10 September . As well as being one of the US ’ s most beautiful cities , Charleston is in driving distance of many speciality chemical and agrochemical companies and has direct flights from 14 non-US cities . As in previous years , the focus of the show is on products and technologies with specific applications for many different agrochemical and speciality chemical markets . The event ’ s stated aim is to “ showcase the distinctive value of the American chemical industry and ultimately help support the ; domestic manufacturing shift ” occasioned by the ‘ reshoring ’ trend and advanced new applications at the high-tech , high-value end of the market . All of the companies present as exhibitors are either based in , or have major manufacturing operations in , the US . The organisers stress the importance of doing business “ in a more personal , face-to-face setting ” rather than online . For this reason , they have sought to create “ a relaxed business atmosphere that promotes multiple networking opportunities around cocktail receptions , lunches and breakfasts on the show floor ... and chance meetings in the hotel hallways ”. Registration and exhibitor buildup take place from 15.00 to 17.00 on Tuesday , 7 September , which is also the day of SOCMA ’ s Annual Golf Tournament & Dinner at the

Dunes West Golf & River Club in nearby Mount Pleasant . Build-up continues from 8.00 on Wednesday , 8 September , and the exhibits open at 11.00 in the Grand Ballroom , the Grand Hall and the Lobby . Between 16.00 and 17.30 , the opening networking cocktail reception takes place . In parallel , Jim DeLisi , president of Fanwood Chemical , will give a Special Industry Update in the Riviera Theatre just across the road between 9.00 and 9.35 on Wednesday 8 , entitled ‘ Around the World - Global Trade Review : China Tariff Exemptions , India GSP , Brexit , USMCA ’. The Exhibitor Showcase Presentations also take place between 9.00 and 16.00 that day , also in the Riviera Theatre . In total , there are 51 presentations , all taking 15 minutes , in three concurrent streams . On Thursday 9 September , the attendee breakfast takes place at the Riviera Theatre and Charleston Grille from 7.30 to 9.00 . The exhibits are then open between 10.00 and 17.30 . This is also the main day for the ‘ General Sessions ’, which take place in the Riviera Theatre either side of the networking luncheon . The schedule and speakers are as follows :
10.45 - Agrochemical Business Update - Latest on Mergers ,
Regulations , Global Trade & New Products : Tolling consultant Alex Polinsky and Jim DeLisi , president , Fanwood Chemical
